Think you have what it takes to represent the Appalachian Fair?
Join us for this year’s Fairest of the Fair Pageant — a tradition of elegance, community spirit, and leadership!

 

💲 Entry Fee & Sponsorship

• A $50 non-refundable entry fee is required for each contestant.

• Each contestant must be sponsored by a civic organization, business, or family member.

• Entry forms are available from the Appalachian Fair Office or may be downloaded from www.appalachianfair.com

• Completed forms must be submitted no later than August 13.

• Entries are limited to 30 contestants.

• Checks should be made payable to the Appalachian Fair.

• Please refer to the entry form for rehearsal schedules and details.

 

👩‍🎓 Eligibility Requirements

• Contestants must be 16–20 years old (having reached their 16th birthday but not their 21st by December 31, 2026).

• Must be a resident of Tennessee.

• Original birth certificate required at the first rehearsal.

 

💃 Judging Criteria

• Contestants will be evaluated on:

• Beauty

• Poise

• Personality

 

📅 Event Details

• Date: Monday, August 24, 2026

• Time: 7:00 PM

• Location: Museum Stage, Appalachian Fairgrounds

• The crowned Fairest will reign during the entire Fair week (August 24–29, 2026) assisting with pageants and special events as requested by Fair Management.

• Additional expectations are listed on the official application form.

 

⚖️ Rules of Conduct

• Contestants cannot qualify if they have ever been married, had a child, competed in a prior TAF State Pageant, or been convicted of a felony.

• Contestants must be of good moral character and must be, and have always been, of the female gender.

 

👗 Dress Code

• Formal floor-length attire required.

• Two-piece gowns are allowed, but wrap skirts over bodysuits are not permitted.

• A modest midriff may be visible, but bralettes are not acceptable.

• Please dress age-appropriately for the 16–20 age division.

 

🏆 State Competition Eligibility

Winners must also meet all guidelines of the Tennessee Association of Fairs (TAF) Pageant Committee to qualify for the State Fairest of the Fair Competition.

🏆 Awards & Honors

1. Appalachian Fair Fairest of the Fair Winner

   • The young lady crowned Appalachian Fair’s Fairest of the Fair will receive a $2,500 scholarship award, payable the following year upon the crowning of the 2027 Fairest of the Fair.

   • Proof of school registration must be submitted to receive the scholarship award.

   • The Fairest of the Fair will also represent the Appalachian Fair in the Tennessee Fairest of the Fair Contest held in Murfreesboro in January 2027.

   • The Appalachian Fair will cover all travel expenses for the queen and her chaperone to attend the state competition.

  2.  State Competition Winner

• The winner of the state contest will receive the title of "Tennessee's Fairest of the Fair" and such prizes as approved by the Tennessee Association of Fairs.
