GENERAL
LIVESTOCK RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Livestock must wash in
designated areas.
2. Application for entry
must be made to the Fair Office on-line or on
regulation entry blanks furnished by the
Appalachian Fair.
Entry
forms are available on-line.
Entry
forms will be accepted through August 5.
3. Fees-Beef & Dairy: All
entries are $7 per head.
If
space is available additional tie space can be
purchased at $7 per space.
All
exhibitors and herdsmen must purchase exhibitors
tickets.
These tickets are
limited to one exhibitors ticket per exhibitor,
except exhibitor may purchase one ticket for
each three additional head of cattle entered.
These exhibitor tickets are $8 each.
If
more than allotted amount of tickets are needed,
three day season passes will be available at a
charge of $18 each.
Fees may be paid by
check, cash, or credit card and must accompany
entry forms. Checks should be made out to
Appalachian Fair.
Only
one vehicle pass per trailer.
Exhibitor
must park vehicles across from Gate 3.
Fees
are non-refundable.
4. Same lot substitutions
will be accepted for an additional entry fee at
time of check in.
5. Animals must be owned by exhibitor and
evidence of registration presented. See
individual bread information for specific rules.
6. Any livestock breed falling below 15 head
with 3 exhibitors, over a three year period,
will be put on probation and the show evaluated
by livestock superintendent and fair management.
7. If possible, premium checks will be handed
out before cattle are released. If not, checks
will be mailed.
8. Animals will not be admitted to Fairgrounds
without health papers.
9. Vehicles must be moved away from barn area
into designated area. Vehicles left unattended
will be towed at owners expanse.
10. Aisle ways MUST BE cleaned each day by 3
p.m. and MAINTAINED during opening hours.
BEEF CATTLE RULES
1. Cattle will be admitted
to the fairgrounds after 12 noon on Saturday,
Aug. 18 and must be in place by noon on Monday,
Aug. 20.
Junior
Beef must be in place by 6:00 p.m. Sunday and
released after the show.
2. Space will not be provided for nurse cows.
3. Tie out will be 9:00 p.m.
Cattle
must remain in barn until 9 p.m.
4. Open Show Beef Cattle will be released
between 9:00 p.m. and midnight Wednesday. Any
exhibitor leaving early will forfeit premium
money.
DAIRY CATTLE RULES
1. Cattle or tack will not
be admitted before 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Barns must be cleaned before admitting any
cattle.
Cattle
must be in place by 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.
2. Dairy exhibitor trucks will be admitted at
Gate 3 Thursday morning before 1:00 p.m. without
an exhibitor sticker. After 1:00 p.m., all
exhibitors must have an exhibitor ticket and a
vehicle pass.
3. Dairy cattle will be released after 9:00 p.m.
on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Any
exhibitor leaving early will forfeit premium
money.
SHEEP RULES
1. Open Sheep will be
admitted Thursday, Aug. 23 until 2:00 p.m. or
after 10:00 p.m. Thursday.
Sheep
must be checked in by 7:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24.
2. Exhibitors must wash in designated area.
3. Junior Sheep must arrive before 2:00 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 24.
4. Sheep will be released after 9:30 p.m.
Saturday night.
Any
exhibitor leaving early will forfeit premium
money.
