CLAUDINE DIXON AWARD
Honoring Miss Claudine Dixon for all her years
of participation in the fair. Her ideas and hard
work have projected the Appalachian Fair into
becoming one of the largest fairs in the state.
She has worked tirelessly to make the Creative
Cooking department a highlight of the Farm and
Home Building. Our hats off to her for her
support. This Special Award will be presented to
the exhibitor in the Creative Cooking department
who accumulates the most points for winning
entries. Rosette = 10 points, Blue Ribbon = 5
points, Red Ribbon = 3 points, and White Ribbon
= 1 point.

$50, ROSETTE AND BASKET
ENTRY TIMES:
1. Cookies ,Candies and Breads - Saturday, August 20, between
12:00 - 5:00 p.m.
2. Pioneer Cooking Contest - Tuesday, August 23, between 12:00 -
1:30 p.m.
3. Cakes- Monday, August 22, from 12:00 - 1:30
p.m.
4. Home Cook of The Year - Wednesday, August 24, from 12:00-1:30
p.m.
5. Salads- Tuesday, August 24, from 12:00 - 1:30
p.m.
6. Pies- Friday, August 26, from 12:00 - 1:30
p.m.
USE ANY WALK THROUGH GATE, HOWEVER, GATE 6 WILL
BE THE ONLY DRIVE THROUGH GATE ACCESSIBLE TO THE
FARM AND HOME BUILDING.
SPECIAL RULES:
1. Those engaged in any line of work as a
profession or business, or as teachers of same,
are considered professional and are not eligible
to exhibit for competition.
2. Only one entry may be made by an exhibitor in
any lot. It is the responsibility of the
exhibitor to properly select the lot for entry
of any article. For information call 477-3211.
3. The Fair Association reserves the right to
disqualify ALL entries of any person interfering
with the judge, clerks, or placing of ribbons.
4. If feasible, samples of the winning exhibits
will be displayed. All open judging entries in
Creative Cooking must be picked up on the day
entered after judging has been completed or they
will be removed.
5. Ribbons may be picked up on Tuesday, August
30, 2011 between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Premium checks may
be picked up at this time or can be picked up.
6. The Fair Association does not assume
responsibility for returning entries. Exhibitor
may pick up items by entering the back door in
the Farm and Home Building on check out day.
Spoiled items and items not picked up will be
removed.
7. All entries must be accompanied by a 8
1/2”x11” plain white, no lines piece of paper
with a printed or typed copy of the recipe or
computer print out unless otherwise specified.
Please use complete instructions. All recipes
become the property of THE APPALACHIAN FAIR AND
CANNOT BE RETURNED. THE FAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT
TO PUBLISH WINNING RECIPES IN AN AWARD WINNING
COOK BOOK. THE CONTESTANT'S NAME, ADDRESS AND
TELEPHONE NUMBER SHOULD BE PRINTED CLEARLY ON
THE BACK OF THE RECIPE.
8. Refer to General Rules and Regulations in
this book applying to all departments.
* 9. Only the exhibitor will be permitted
behind the stage or the exhibitor's
representative to pick up entries. All others
will be asked to leave. |
